Voicing
Voicing is the process of giving the piano its proper tonal character. It is mainly based on working with the hammers – the felt is adjusted through needling, filing, or hardening. This achieves a balance between brightness and softness of sound.
Thanks to voicing, the tone becomes more consistent, balanced, and expressive, allowing the pianist to bring out the full range of nuances of the instrument.
Final Voicing
Final voicing is the last stage of preparing a piano, where the instrument acquires its definitive tone and balance. The specialist adjusts volume and tone across the whole range, ensuring consistency and harmony.
At this stage, the piano receives its unique “voice,” ready for concert use.
